Federal Prison Project Berlin, New Hampshire

Project Overview
On May 2nd, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) selected the team of Bell Corporation and Heery International as the design/builder for a new approximately $230 million Federal Correctional Institution to be located in Berlin, New Hampshire. When completed, the medium security facility, which will be in Berlin, New Hampshire, will have 1,280 beds and employ approximately 300 people. The construction of the facility will result in bringing more jobs to the region, making this one of the largest public works projects in New Hampshire history.  

Current Status
Site work has begun (See the photo below!). The Prison is expected to be completed in Three years time. The Vendor is currently working with State and Local officials to identify future subcontractors and potential job applicants to service the contract during the design build phase. Click here for a preliminary schedule.

Update on Business Supplier and Job Fair -

On August25th, the Department of Employment Securities hosted a Business Supplier Fair and Job Fair.  The Business Supplier Fair attracted over 100 small businesses interested in makreting their goods and services to the prime contractor (Bell Heery) as well as several other subcontractors.  The job Fair attracted over 350 attendees.

Also, many vendors gave capability statements to be delivered to the Bureau of Prisons.  These statements are in the process of being consolidated and will be delivered to the BOP.  If you would like to be put on a suppliers list, you may contact Dave Pease of NH PTAP at 271-7581 or by email at david.pease@dred.state.nh.us.  Please be aware that NH PTAP is only recording the information and is not a contracting entity.

A second supplier fair may be held next Spring.  Details will be relayed when available.

The White Mountains Community College is located in Berlin and offers a variety of degree and certificate programs, including a Criminal Justice Program
