CONCORD, NH – Following federal approval of its Digital Equity Plan, the state will begin implementing the plan to ensure residents will have the training and equipment they need for internet access and usage, according to the Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA).
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration approved New Hampshire’s award of nearly $5 million under the State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program. The grant was created and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“This award complements our ongoing broadband infrastructure expansion around the state,” said BEA Commissioner Taylor Caswell. “As that work progresses, we can begin implementing our Digital Equity Plan, which will provide residents with access to education, training, and equipment to use the internet for everything from commerce and education to healthcare and other resources now accessible via computer.”
New Hampshire continues to build out its broadband infrastructure to over 50,000 addresses in unserved and underserved areas of the state.
