The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund (Capital Projects Fund) addresses challenges resulting from the global pandemic, especially in rural America, tribal communities, and low- and moderate-income communities, helping to ensure that all communities have access to the high-quality modern infrastructure, including broadband, needed to access critical services.
New Hampshire was allocated $122 million to support its Capital Project Fund (CPF) Programs.
New Hampshire’s CPF programs are specifically designed to incentivize internet service providers (ISPs) to provide broadband access to hard-to reach areas where investment may otherwise not be viable. The Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA) has a keen awareness of the geography and demography that impacts how broadband infrastructure is deployed.
- Broadband Contract Program
- New Hampshire awarded $90,000,000 in two contracts connecting broadband service to 48,016 homes.
- Project completion deadlines of December 31, 2026.
- Broadband Matching Grant Initiative
- New Hampshire awarded $23,866,072.05 through twelve contracts, to three internet service providers, to connect 3,087 homes with broadband service.
- Project completion deadlines of March 31, 2026.
Through these CPF projects, the construction and deployment of broadband infrastructure, designed to deliver service that reliably meets or exceeds symmetrical speeds of 100Mbps, is vital to ensure New Hampshire communities have future-proof infrastructure to serve their long-term needs.
